Wonderful resonant image of a great river - been on it briefly and loved Jonathan Raban’s book ‘Old Glory - An American Voyage’
From the top: a 1997 pilgrimage like that of Robert Day https://theamericanscholar.org/well-always-have-mcsorleys/#.VMUVMS4vvm8
Elegance in Central Park - same great trip with daughter Beth
Some americana by me in Oxford, Miss., and
William Faulkner’s place - another pilgrimage, both in 1988
Those were the days……..
Our grandson William James on his grandma’s knee for the first time. Who’s a happy Grandma? (I promise very few more posts of grandchildren and we haven’t got a cat).
I guess the Americana bit all started in the early 1950s with Buffalo Bill Annuals bought for me at Christmas. That was a long time ago and as i’ve just started on this tumblr lark after a busy tiring day, I’ll return another day and say some more.
